Obsession and Addiction OR The Enabler

My name is Cat. I don't exactly remember when I met Deb online for the first time. It was on Plurk and even if I didn't know it then, my life has not been the same anymore since.
What I clearly remember was how confused I was reading about "the bukkit" all the time. Where was that mysterious bucket and what was it used for? And why on Earth was it so dangerous to dive into it that people asked for search parties and lifelines before going in there? I was afraid to ask.

And then - it's hard to say, let me take a deep breath first .... then it was time for me to get to know "the bukkit" myself. I had only just started making jewelry a few months ago and there it was, a universe of its own, a universe of light, colors, sparkle in all sizes and shapes. No wonder people needed a lifeline, it was only too easy to forget breathing while browsing.

Since then I have spent many a time not only in the bukkit, but also in Deb's bead shops on Etsy and ArtFire (I haven't even started talking about her jewelry shops yet!). I'm sorry, the following is something I have to say, too. I vowed to myself I'd be honest.

Deb's an enabler. Maybe even THE ENABLER. Yes, in large, red letters.

She's luring me in with beautiful pearls in different sizes and colors. She feeds me with tiny sized multi-colored beads that I need for my pieces of jewelry. She sends me faceted beads that are so lovely that I hide them away for that special piece that my muse has to design first.
And I'm sad to say, I love it.
I'm not even ashamed anymore to dance in front of our house when I pull an envelope from Hong Kong out of my mailbox. I bet the whole neighborhood knows Deb's name by now. They probably even know how crazy, helpful, lovely and hilariously funny she can be because they hear me squeak a lot when I'm plurking.

One thing is not her strength, though. Blogging. Not the writing part itself, I'm sure, but the getting herself to do it. That's why I was here today to put my dirty footprints and fingerprints all over this blog.
Maybe it won't be the last time. And maybe I just lost a person whom I never met and whom I still call a friend. I sure hope not ;-)

Now excuse me, I reminded myself that I haven't been to the bukkit for quite some time. I'll put my diver's suit on and go in. Don't wait for me, it could take a while.

They are calling me, can you hear it .................

OMG. This made me laugh out loud.

You completely hit the nail on the head. Although, to be fair, you didn't fully disclose that she is also a World Ranked Bead Whore. I'm pretty sure she's won awards for that.

Positively, absolutely the truth...and yes, I believe that Shiny is also correct.

I love her to pieces...

Shiny described it perfectly! LOL! It's true.

I absolutely love Deb!

Deb's siren call can lead one to spend hours infatuated with shiny, sparkling, dazzling, beauties. Which then seems to cause an outbreak of unhinged laughter and remarks being called out or typed... "Mine", "All Mine..." "My precious..." or so I'm told.

I shamely admit I haven't gotten brave enough to get close enough to hear the siren call or dip my toe into the water...

Frankly it's got more to do with not being 100% sure someone would keep firm to my lifeline, be willing to follow the rules to remember to wear shades and not to remove the ear plugs while I was in the bukkit. Cause I'd like to come out at least long enough to utter my own unhinged manical laughter and croak out "My precious... it's calling my name"...

Honestly I can't look at Deb's dragon horde, or I will start crying, big juicy baby tears...

I too am a "bukkit" addict. I freely admit that I have plurked the words "mine...all mine" on more than one occasion. I have danced at the post office when I find one of her packages. Its always a sparkling treat of exceptional quality.
Deb is also one of a collection of women that I am privileged to be able to plurk with. She makes me smile when I have a lousy day and will indulge me in discussing jade whenever I want to. She is charming, witty and wonderful.
If you haven't dived into the "bukkit" yet come and join us. The water's warm :)

Deb is an absolute treasure, with the best, most shiny, tempting, regularly wiped clean of drool, sparkly collection ever! The "bukkit" is heaven on earth.
I can remember my first parcel from Deb, I sat staring at the goodies for ages, running them through my fingers absolutely gobsmacked at how amazing they were.
I am more than happy to have Deb as my enabler! LMAO

I hate the bukkit. I hate it with a vengeance. But why? I hear you ask.

Well... *bows head, whispers* I've gotten lost in the bukkit on more than one occasion. I've dived in, with my shopping list and a firm determination on what to get.... only to emerge hours later with something completely different.

Something completely and utterly "sparkly, shiny, gorgeous..... my preciousssss" different and not something that was on my list at all from starters. Le sigh...

Ok, I don't hate the bukkit. But I do hate that Deb won't pack up the WHOLE bukkit and just send it on to me. I asked you know. *sheepish grin*

Deb is an awesome person to know! I know because I was able to meet her in person and talked to her on the phone too. I am hoping that I can return the favor someday when I go back to visit her.
